Motivation

I have had a long-standing interest in the Arbitrum ecosystem, being a very early contributor to the Arbitrum Governance Forum and a contributor to strengthening the Arbitrum Constitution: https://forum.arbitrum.foundation/t/proposal-aip-1-2-foundation-and-dao-governance/13362/26?u=pablo

As part of this, I provided a detailed analysis of the Arbitrum Constitution via my Github Page: https://github.com/Daimon-Law/Arbitrum-Foundation-Docs

My recent Openlaw GitHub contributions on projects like the Whitehat Safe Harbor Agreement further emphasizes my readiness to build security frameworks that allow teams such as the Security Council to respond to incidents with urgency and precision with a consideration and mitigation of the legal risk for Council members.

This work gives me unique insight into to the operational governance for Arbitrum and the role played by the Security Council.

I have been a passionate advocate and supporter of DeFi, crypto and Web3 initiatives since 2016 and have put this into practice, hosting grass-root community events and education sessions.

I have also supported countless DeFi and Web3 projects on a pro-bono and reduced fee basis since establishing my law firm and invite you to review some of the work I've done on my Github page: https://github.com/Daimon-Law.

If you would like to reach out, feel free to message me on the Arbitrum Governance Forum, or you can find me in the Lex DAO Discord channel.

Experience

I am the Founder and Principal of Daimon Legal, a law firm supporting Web3, crypto and DeFi projects. The firm was founded in Geneva, Switzerland and is currently operating in Melbourne, Australia. I have been a technology and intellectual property lawyer for over 25 years, supporting projects and start-ups since 2017.

A cornerstone of my candidacy is my role in the ArbitrumDAO Procurement Committee (ADPC), where we are pioneering a comprehensive Procurement Framework specifically designed to streamline the process for Arbitrum ecosystem actors acquiring critical security services and auditors, thereby bolstering the overall security posture of the Arbitrum ecosystem.

I am strongly of the view that enhanced collaboration between the Security Council and ADPC will be a net benefit to both groups. The ADPC intends to work closely with the Security Council to build solution requirements and review applicants to the Framework, and I intend to strengthen that collaboration by building ties with both groups and facilitating workflow between them. I have significant IT security response experience gained in Tier 1 technology organisations including EDS, Telstra and NTT and have provided legal support and advisory services during security incidents. This includes establishing and reviewing incident management plans and policies suitable for enterprise level incidents as well as representing Group Legal when security/data incidents arise.

I believe this enterprise-level experience will be of significant value if appointed to the Security Council as there are important legal and public relations issues that need to be considered when an incident arises.

I have established enterprise-grade cyber-security policies, provided legal advice and had leadership roles when cybersecurity incidents arise.

Many of the organisations I worked for over my career provided Tier 1, enterprise-grade cyber-security services. As the representative of Group Legal at these organisations, I played a key leadership role when major incidents arose.
