Mateusz | Nethermind
Chief Information Officer
Motivation
Nethermind's security team already evaluates emergency upgrades and responds to cross-protocol incidents as a core function, the Security Council role is a natural extension of work we do every day. Nethermind delegates a candidate, because Arbitrum deserves council members who bring battle-tested incident response discipline, operational security rigor and genuine 24/7 emergency availability, backed by an organization with 400+ smart contract audits and formal verification depth behind them.
Experience
Mateusz leads the infrastructure operations and organizational security at Nethermind across many blockchain projects and chain protocols, with direct responsibility for incident response coordination, key management protocols and cross-team emergency triage under time pressure.
Skills
Cybersecurity
Mateusz plays a role of CISO in the organisation, his cybersecurity experience is rooted in hands-on incident response coordination, key management protocol design, compliance gap assessments and enforcing operational discipline across dozens of production blockchain environments. All grounded in real world crypto industry threat models rather than any theoretical frameworks.
Projects
Nethermind works with many projects and, in fact, it is because of that work that Mateusz has the relevant experience he does. Examples are Polygon and Starknet. Nethermind believes you will want him to evergreen that experience by continuing to work with Arbitrum's competitors. However, when doing his work Mateusz would always respect your conflict of interest policy, and he would also respect Nethermind's conflict of interest policy - which is largely with coterminous with yours, but if it takes a more conservative position on a conflict, Mateusz will respect that more conservative requirement.
