Candidate Profile

Security Council election candidate

Jake Nyquist

Head of Protocol at Caldera

Individual

Motivation

As Head of Protocol at Caldera, which operates the largest fleet of Arbitrum Nitro chains (20 mainnets, 70+ testnets), I'm deeply invested in the security of the Arbitrum ecosystem. Our Rollup-as-a-Service business and our customers' L3s directly depend on Arbitrum's security. Having worked with the Arbitrum Nitro stack daily for over two years, I've developed the technical expertise and emergency response experience necessary to evaluate security threats and make critical decisions. I'm motivated to serve on the Security Council to help protect the ecosystem that my company and our customers rely on.

Beyond this, I've made a fundamental career bet on the rollup-centric roadmap -- a bet that is much less likely to pan out if the most important rollup mishandles a security incident.

Experience

Technical Expertise: 2+ years of daily hands-on work with Arbitrum Nitro, including authoring integrations, validating code, and performing upgrades on live Nitro chains Multisig Experience: Currently serve on multiple multisigs for various Arbitrum Orbit chains, providing direct experience with the council's exact responsibilities Security Background: Developed security procedures at two crypto companies, managed whitehat reports, and triaged incidents that could impact funds onchain. Smart Contract Security: Wrote and launched two protocols in Solidity which secured millions in TVL without security incidents Emergency Response: Already participate in multiple on-call rotations for rollups, responding to incidents 24/7 and publishing incident reports Diverse Perspective: Experience with multiple rollup technologies (OP, ZKSync) providing comparative insights for security evaluations
